How to get here by
yourself
Take a night train from Hanoi to Lao Cai.
Tickets can be purchased from the train station in Hanoi. Berths come in
three main classes: soft-sleeper (with or without a.c.), hard sleeper,
or hard seat. Most tourists opt for the soft-sleeper. The platform for
the train to Lao Cai is at the back of the main station in Hanoi. Make sure you tell
your cyclo or taxi driver where you are going. On arrival at Lao
Cai station, look out for our hotel minibus to Sa Pa. The cost of a one
way trip is 25,000 Dong (approximately 2 USD). If you telephone
us in advance, we can be there to collect you from the station.
Returning to Hanoi?
We can take care of all your travel needs back to
Hanoi.
Onward travel to Kunming, China?
We can also arrange bus travel (overnight sleeper)
to Kunming, Yunnan Province, China. At the time of writing, the train
service had been suspended.
